After you have written down some thoughts, do some research on the subject. You will find many ways to organize this research. Remember that you are starting from the point of 'setting the subject' so you should know what your goal is before starting. I suggest that you start by organizing your thoughts into three categories. These categories are 'What is the Topic?' 'Why is the Topic? and 'What is the Specific Discussion.' Once you have created a topic or a particular topic, you will want to take time to organize it for your writing. For example, let's say that you have created a topic of the economy. In this case, you would want to organize your thoughts into the following categories: the economy, what the economy means, why the economy matters, and how to change the economy. Now, you may ask 'Why is the Topic?' Well, if you write a topic essay on how to create a new product, then the answer would be the market. On the other hand, if you write a topic on how to change a government that is broken, then the answer would be your education and career. The last category of your topic would be to determine the specific discussion that you would like to have. For example, if you wanted to write about entrepreneurship, then you would want to create a discussion that is centered around a question of how do you become an entrepreneur? This would include a discussion of the types of entrepreneurs and the most important aspects of entrepreneurship.
